Getting started in Exports , 23 and 30 July 2008, 9.00am – 11.30 am, Sydney
Would you like to start exporting to grow you business?

The Department of State and Regional Development is conducting two half-day export workshops.  These workshops are for those businesses starting export to grow their business or for an occasional exporter who wishes to establish a long term presence in export markets or for other exporters keen to fine tune their understanding of export processes.

The workshops will cover four key topics for exporters – Planning, Resourcing, Marketing and Visiting your Target Market.  An international trade expert will take you through the entire export process and examine the following topics:

- How to prepare an export plan and become ‘export ready’
- What resources are needed for an export strategy
- Marketing tips for selling in overseas markets
- Where to go for assistance

The workshops will also include a live case study to provide you with some practical aspects of doing overseas.  You will receive a free copy of Getting Started in Exports Guide developed by the department.

Export Planning & Resourcing for export will be covered on 23 July 2008 and Export Marketing & Visiting your Target Market will be covered on 30 July 2008.

The seminars are held at the Trade & Investment Centre, Department of State and Regional Development, Level 47, MLC Centre, 19 Martin Place, Sydney.  Registrations and enquiries to Raji Bhatia on 9338 6958 or Raji.Bhatia@business.nsw.gov.au

Many major international brands started as small businesses. What has made them successful is their strategic approach to branding. This seminar is an opportunity to learn some of the secrets of branding from Chris Boseley, the principal of Beyond Advertising, which offers strategic and creative services in branding and communication, including online solutions.

The seminar will cover:
• How important is brand name and how do you develop brand names?
• Is your brand relevant to your positioning in the market place?
• What are the characteristics of a 'breakthrough brand'?
• Why is a brand important in both B2B and niche consumer market places?
• How do you create a 'brand' in a niche or B2B market place?
• What is a brand hierarchy and why is it so important?

The seminar will be held at Sydney Business, Level 4, 7 Help Street, Chatswood from 9.15am for 9.30am to 11.00am.  Cost for members is $22 and for non-members it is $33.  Enquiries on (02) 9415 2630 and registrations to info@sydneybusiness.org.au
